Hi everyone,
I have been in remission since Jan. 05, but my CA125 was 7.5 and the following two blood test consisisted of 10 and my last one was 11.
Do you think this has any meaning?

Thanks all! Rolling Eyes

Absolutely NOT!!! Don't worry (easier said than done). Just know that I was in your shoes 3 years ago, and now I am fine. It is a long, long road. Keep yourself busy, and if I were you, I wouldn't even ask for my numbers.

They say it is when the CA125 doubles that you need to be concerned. I've had a lot of CA125's since 1987 when I was dx. with stage IIIc. My CA125 has ranged between 3 and 10 since I finished treatment for a recurrence in 1993. It is usually 5, 6, or 7. When it was 10, I worried so I went back 4 weeks later and had it redone and it was back down. It is different for each person. The more CA125's you have, the better you will know your safe range. Hope this helps. Helen

Pam,

The CA-125 numbers can bounce around, as they are affected by other things such as inflammation. I have been as high as ten and as low as four. Stay calm and just keep an eye on things.

Be well.

I have a reoccurance of a adomenenal hernia that was fixed in Jan. 06. I went back to surgeon, but wanted me cleared by my Dr. before he cuts me up again. I had a CT Scan and it showed enlarged lymoph nodes, so my Dr. sent me for blood test. My latest CA125 is 19.4 up from 11 the last time. Any insight on the enlarged lymoph nodes? I don't think I'm spelling it right, but I know you all know what I'm talking about.
Thanks everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

So hard to tell without medical expertise. What I can advice you is to take one step at a time......and don't read anything into things......it will just get you stressed out. Wish I could be of more help

Well now I am worried. My last chemo treatment was about a year ago now. My CA-125 had been around 16 after treatment, I have been going for follow ups every 3 months. Went for lab work last Thurs, doc said I looked good and was reducing my visits to every 6 months. I get a call today - almost a week later from a tech to scheldule a PET scan? I call my doc office and nurse apologizes, didn't think the tech would call me so quickly to scheldule scan and after much questioning I find out my CA-125 was elevated into the 1000's. My DR didn't want the nurse to tell me the number so I wouldn't worry. Well that just makes me more worried that he didn't want to tell me ... I am now mad and worried. I know other things can elevate CA-125 but to go from a 16 to into the 1000's? Anyone else have an elevation that much and it turn out to be nothing?

Hi Ribbons,
My CA125 is climbing also, but not as much as yours did. I am also scheduled for a PET SCAN in June. My only wish for us is that they can hopefully control it. I'm wishing you all the best keep us posted. The prayers are coming your way!

Wow, they have you schelduled as far away as June? I am on pins and needles just having to wait unitl next week for test results. I don't know why, I mean it does me no good to worry about it.

I have been so relaxed for the last few months, and I am guilty of not posting here in a while because it was something so far out my mind except when it was time for a follow up. I knew the reoccurence odds were very high, but I just really let my guard down and had convinced myself I beat it.

Thank you for the kind words, and my hope is the same for you and everyone else here having to deal with this.

I will accept all those prayers and you can expect some prayers coming your way as well. I will update when I find out results and you please do the same.

The reason the PET Scan is scheduled for June is..... I had hernia surgery on 3/26/07. The Dr's said I needed to wait two months or I would "light up". They want a good scan! Confused
I'm finally giving back to this Ovarian Cancer beast! My buddies are having a fundraiser at the beach on 6/24/07. Check out the website

I tried going to your link, but my web browser wouldn't let me view. I must have to change some settings. I will try again later. Sounds like a great idea!

Sad Just had another 2 blood test 1 I did 1st week in May and CA125 was 60, just had another one last week and it's 157! YIKES!
My Dr. called and told me to go get a CT Scan, so I'll be doing that on Thursday. But someone told me about a PET and CT Scan? Did anyone hear of this? I would rather just do 1 SCAN (So I don't have to drink that crap twice). I have a PET Scan set up for 6/7/07.

Thanks everyone!

Tv,

I beleive the PET scan is better because it gives a better image.

The PET was a little different from CT scan in that you have to drink a lot of water, get injected with radioacitive material with I think a sugar dye. The cancer cells are attracted to the sugar dye and it lights up on the scan when present. The PET machine is very simaliar to the CT machine. The scan itself takes about 30 minutes, but the prep for the scan takes a couple of hours.

I did get my results back from my PET scan and they were not good. 14 months of NED and bam!,... I have excessive spread throughout my pelvis and abdomen. Two large tumors - one in upper ab and one wrapped inside my pelvis bone. A small spot on my liver, but it appears to be just on the surface. I have already had my 1st chemo last week. The plan is 3 - 4 carb/tax and the debulking surgery in August.

I have been going to this forum for support http://ovca.net/, there is much more activity there. I still come here to check, but on the other site there is daily activity on the messageboards.

Take care and let us know you your scan goes.
