Keep that upbeat attitude!!! We are here to fix the statistics of this disease! I had my 1st treatment yesterday, no getting sick at this time, but can feel the tiredness start and I should be sleeping my 830PM tonight for the entire weekend.
Instead of 5 1/2 hours it only took 3 hours, so I got to watch 1 1/2 movies during my time there. I brought the nurses some Salt Water Taffy from the beach and they were so happy! Very Happy
Ribbons, Wishing you prayers and hugs and remember.....
Keep Fighting!

Chemo # 2 I had an allergic reaction to Carboplatin. After the port infection I missed Chemo #3. They gave me for Pre and Post Meds and wanted to try the Carbo/Taxotere cocktail today. They did it very slowly but on my 3rd small bag of Carbo I went into an allergic reaction again.
So, after being there for 12 hours, I have to finish my post meds and on 9/18 a new cocktail will be mixed. Once I know what I'm getting I'll let you know.

My CA-125 inched up a point or so every 3 month until it was 35 about 6 years from my original diagnosis. They did a CT scan and found that it had spread to my upper abdominal area and colon. They did surgery and I'm doing more chemo and responding well. Not everyone gives a clear CA125. Talk to your doctor about additional tests. I didn't have any other indications. I still think of it as 6 years of dancing with NED. Signed Queen of Denial.

Today I got the news, I will have to start Chemo again. They want to put me on a Clinical Trial, one that includes Doxil and a Phase 3 that sounds like a Hawaiian name. Info is downstairs.
No AJ, it's not Avistan.
CA125 was 58 up from 18 in January and CT Scan showed tumour in the same area.... lower right in abdomen. Nothing else has spread!!! Which is wonderful news.

Hi Pam,

I know I have been away for a long time again. Somedays I want to talk about cancer, but most of the time I want it to be the furthest thing on my mind.

I just started on my 3rd round of chemo yesterday. My CA125 went from 26 to 196 within 4 weeks.

Looks we are on the same trends Pam.

Since I responded so well to chemo the 1st 2 times we are going to try just taxol this time. I begged my ONC to leave off the cisplatin this time and see how the taxol alone works 1st.

My hair was just getting long enough not to have to wear a hat - oh well.

Hi Ribbons...
Yes we are on the same trends. I will be starting Doxil tomorrow. I should be getting treated every 4 weeks. I'm wishing I don't get that Hand and Foot thing.
Wishing you all the best and keep healthy! Keep in touch! Laughing

Hi Pam,
My name is Julie. New to posting, but joined last year. Starting to feel the need to connect more with teal sisters.
I just finished up chemo with Doxil in Jan. The schedule is nice and it worked very well for me. However I did get the common foot and hand syndrome. If it happens to you, and I will pray that it doesn't, keep your hands well moisturized with Eucerin. The original moisturizing creme that is very thick. That what my oncologist told me to use. It helped with the cracking and dryness. I also read that taking the supplement vitamin B-6 might help with the redness. I was taking it for leg cramps caused by Neulasta. (My nurse suggested that it might help for that). Who knows, maybe my hands and feet would have been worse without it. I still take 100mg daily.
Many of you are in my prayers and hope to get to know more of you soon. Julie

Well I'm still 1 year in remission and so happy! I have recently found out I had breast cancer in the family so I started genetic testing so my family can be informed. Remember... there are options out there for us!

Great to hear your good news! I am sincerely happy for you. Has it been over a year since I posted? Wow...
lots has happened in a year, and then again more of the same. I have not had a break from chemo in over a year. I have had many different chemo combos, all intially worked - my CA 125 would drop and then in a few weeks after completing 6 rounds the marker would climb again. When we would start back on the treatment, I would stop responding and we try a different chemo treatment. I am now back on Cisplatin which I swore I would never do again, but my docs say I really need a platnium based treatment. We are using Cytox with it. I hate it, I have more down time then uptime. I have been using every nausea med available and none of them have fully worked, tho I suspect it would be worse if I didn't use any. Today is a good day, I feel fine, I look fine and on days like this I think I can deal with it. Then when I have my treatment its so awful I don't think I can do it again, but I do because there really isn't anythingelse I can do to fight. I just hope a break is coming soon.

Since recurrence happens to most of us, I wanted to say that I am now
in 17 month remission still from Doxil.
Hoping it last a little while longer......

Just to let everyone know, I finished Doxil only treatment in Aug. 2008.
I am still in remission. But that doesn't mean that this beast won't come back. We all fight everyday, but remember there's hope!

PEACE - LOVE AND HOPE!

Pam
